President’s leadership drives measurable impact, national recognition, and a forward-looking vision for student success
Royal Oak, MI — During Women’s History Month, Baker College is spotlighting the leadership and accomplishments of President Dr. Jacqui Spicer, whose strategic vision and results-driven approach have positioned the College as a model for access, innovation, and workforce-aligned education in a rapidly evolving higher education landscape.
Since assuming the presidency, Dr. Spicer has led Baker College through a period of transformational growth and national recognition—balancing affordability, academic rigor, and real-world outcomes while maintaining a student-first mission. Under her leadership, Baker College has generated more than $3 billion in economic impact, expanded dual enrollment and early college pathways, implemented tuition freezes, and integrated artificial intelligence and emerging technologies across academic programs.
Dr. Spicer’s tenure has also elevated Baker College’s national profile. The institution has been recognized as a Newsweek Top Online College, selected to join the FirstGen Forward Network, and designated both a Military Friendly® Silver School and a Michigan Veteran-Friendly Gold institution. Baker College’s esports program has earned national championship appearances, while faculty continue to gain recognition as subject-matter experts and award-winning educators.
“Higher education must be accountable, accessible, and aligned with the realities students face after graduation,” said Dr. Jacqui Spicer, President of Baker College. “Our responsibility is not only to educate, but to create pathways—pathways to careers, economic mobility, and lifelong learning. At Baker College, we are intentionally designing education around outcomes that matter.”
Dr. Spicer is widely regarded for her ability to translate complex challenges in higher education into actionable strategies, making her a sought-after voice on topics including:
- Workforce-aligned and career-focused education
- First-generation and adult student success
- Dual enrollment and early college access
- Institutional innovation and AI integration
- Affordability, tuition strategy, and student value
- The evolving role of private, not-for-profit colleges
These themes are prominently featured in Baker College’s newly released 2026 President’s Report, which builds upon the nationally recognized inaugural report honored by PR Daily and awarded by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The latest report documents continued momentum, transparency, and outcomes-driven leadership during Dr. Spicer’s presidency.
“Dr. Spicer represents the kind of leadership higher education needs right now—practical, student-centered, and deeply connected to workforce and community needs,” said Kelley Suggs, Public Relations Manager. “Her work resonates beyond Baker College and contributes meaningfully to national conversations about the future of education.”
As Baker College continues to expand its impact across Michigan and beyond, Dr. Spicer remains focused on collaboration, innovation, and measurable results—positioning both the institution and its leadership at the forefront of higher education transformation.
