Move to the head of the class.

Not all children have the same educational needs. Careers for educators are in high demand, but being able to work with many different types of students helps open the door to even more opportunities.

Our elementary teacher preparation program with an emphasis on early childhood education helps you learn the skills you’ll need to handle a very diverse set of students. Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on fieldwork, you’ll learn how to work with general education students in preschool and elementary school settings, as well as preschool students who have special needs, such as disabilities and developmental delays.

After completing this program, you’ll be ready to take the test for your Michigan Provisional Elementary Teaching Certificate, which lets you teach all subjects in grades K-5 and all subjects in self-contained classrooms for grades K-8. You’ll also be able to take the test to apply for a ZS endorsement. With a ZS endorsement, you’ll also be able to teach all subjects in general and special education preschool classrooms.

The curriculum at Baker absolutely helped me. I had great instructors, instructors who were educators. Just for teachers to connect with students, it was important to me for those instructors to connect with me.
