Whether you are a first year student, recent high school graduate, transfer student, or have an Associate degree from another institution you may be eligible for the BeFree Tuition guarantee.

Future High School Grad
Class of 2023
- Michigan resident
- Complete the FAFSA by May 1
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher by the end of their senior year
- Qualify for the maximum Federal Pell Grant
- Be registered full time before classes begin

Recent High School Grad
Class of 2020- 2022
- Michigan resident
- Complete the FAFSA by May 1
- Have a high school cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher
- Qualify for the maximum Federal Pell Grant
- Be registered full time before classes begin

Transfer Students or Associate Degree Holders
- Michigan resident
- Complete the FAFSA by May 1
- Have 60 college credits or associate degree
- Have a college cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Qualify for the maximum Federal Pell Grant
- Be registered full time before classes begin
BeFree Tuition Guarantee
Rules & Qualification
- Free tuition will be granted for the Fall and Spring semesters (Summer included for programs that require summer enrollment).
- Includes base tuition only.
- Students may be responsible for premium program tuition charges, fees, books, software, supplies or other program specific materials.
- The student must be a new Baker College student beginning Fall 2023 or later (students who previously attended Baker College are not eligible).
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1 and complete the verification process (if applicable).
- The student (and parent/guardian if dependent) must be a Michigan resident since July 1, of the preceding calendar year.
- Register in an undergraduate degree or certificate program before the start of the semester.
- Withdrawals and dropped classes may result in increased cost to students.
- Qualify for the maximum Federal Pell Grant award amount (Typically income below $50,000 but varies based on family size and the number of family members in college).
- Attend full time in classes that apply toward the student’s program (exceptions allowed when required based on program restrictions).
- High School Graduates – must have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher by the end of their senior year.
- Transfer Students – must have a college cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher and have earned at least 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university that are transferable to Baker College (or have earned an associate degree from an accredited college or university).
- Continue to meet the maximum Pell Grant eligibility requirements annually.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1 and complete the verification process (if applicable).
- Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA at Baker College.
- Maintain continuous full time attendance in classes that apply toward the student’s program (exceptions allowed when required based on program restrictions).
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress.
