POSITION:        Part-Time, Campus Safety Officer

LOCATION:      Baker College of Muskegon

REPORTS TO:  Director of Campus Safety

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Criminal Justice degree preferred
  • Three years of experience in law enforcement/security/military required
  • Must be CPR/AED/First Aid certified
  • PPCT defensive tactics a plus
  • Must demonstrate and maintain proficiency with firearms
  • Must have current CPL permit
  • Must have current or previous law enforcement officer experience
  • Must have working knowledge of the Web, web-based email, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access and Excel) and OASIS
  • Must have willingness to travel for training purposes
  • Flexibility with work schedule a must

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs general police functions on campus
  • General patrol of campus
  • Respond to called for services
  • Assist motorists
  • Investigate incidents/accidents
  • Provide facilities security
  • Interview victims, witnesses and suspects involved in incidents
  • Write required reports
  • Enforce traffic regulations
  • Assist/advise visitors and members of campus community
  • Act as desk officer when necessary
  • Assist municipal, county and state policy agencies when appropriate
  • Perform related duties as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule

Up to 28 hours per week (2nd & 3rd shift) Must be willing to work nights, week-ends and holidays

Compensation

Hourly rate based on education, experience, and existing wage rates for similar positions within Baker College.
