Unlike other types of financial aid, scholarships are often awarded based on academic excellence. But not every scholarship is designed for those who excel in academics. Most scholarships are awarded automatically, while others require an application. There are scholarships available for students who have special interests or specific career objective. Many local agencies, businesses or clubs offer scholarships for outstanding achievement.

Barnes & Noble Scholarship
Key Criteria for Eligibility: Available for students entering the professional track of the Dental Hygiene and Veterinary Tech programs. The eligible programs selected and amounts are updated annually. Contact Financial Services for details.

Key Criteria for Eligibility: Graduating high school senior; 3.0+ GPA with a 980 or higher SAT
Value: 30% tuition reduction with half time enrollment
Michigan Competitive Scholarship/State of Michigan
Key Criteria for Eligibility: Michigan resident; qualifying ACT score; financial need.
Value: Announced by State each year
Michigan Nursing Scholarship
Key Criteria for Eligibility: Michigan resident, enroll at least half-time in a nursing program. A limited number of scholarships are available.
Value: Up to $5000
Muskegon Area Promise Scholarship
Key Criteria for Eligibility: Live within the boundaries of the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD), Graduate with a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher from a high school located within the boundaries of the MAISD, Apply for student aid using the FAFSA and complete the verification process as requested each year, and Enroll at Baker College of Muskegon.
