Program Outcomes

Intended Student Learning Outcomes—College of Business—IACBE Accredited Programs

Mission of College of Business: The mission of the College of Business is to enable graduates to meet the challenges of the dynamic and complex business environment. Our quality-focused, market-driven and rigorous program curricula will establish and enhance core business knowledge and the ability to anticipate and react to societal changes, as well as provide students with technological proficiency, the ability to make ethical decisions and the communication skills that embody the professional acumen graduates need to make positive contributions to their chosen fields.

Broad-Based Student Learning Goals of College of Business

  • Students will acquire the relevant disciplinary knowledge and competencies appropriate to their programs of study.
  • Students will demonstrate behaviors and attitudes that promote success in the workplace.
  • Students will demonstrate effective communication (both written and oral), including the use of technology, in various environments and situations.
  • Students will acquire critical thinking skills including analysis and synthesis both within the career field and for the purpose of life-long learning.
  • Students will acquire relevant knowledge, which includes an understanding of cultural, social, political and global issues.
  • Students will acquire the knowledge and demonstrate the ability to follow and support the ethical standards of their profession.

  • The College of Business will offer significant project-based and active learning opportunities for students.
  • The College of Business will offer highly effective programs and delivery systems degrees that prepare students to be career ready.
  • The College of Business will provide students opportunity to advance critical thinking skills and the use of technology.
  • The College of Business will attract and retain career-oriented faculty who are experts in their field.

General Program ISLOs

Bachelor of Business Administration

  • Students will be able to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills that are applicable to the field of study, the workplace and other life situations.
  • Students will be able to explain concepts, theories and practices in the principle functional areas and describe the interrelationships between the functional areas of business.
  • Students will be able to use advanced technology in support of business administration and decision-making.
  • Students will be able to examine political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal factors in view of ethics and corporate social responsibility.
  • Students will be able to describe the global environment and its impact on organizational-wide decision-making.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate proficiency in (written and oral communication) and use current technology in support of business administration and decision-making.

Logistics Degree—Bachelor of Business Administration

  • Students will be able to evaluate the supply chain process, through value stream mapping, for potential risks including bottlenecks, shortages and removal of waste in terms of time, quality and cost.
  • Students will be able to analyze industry trends.
  • Students will be able to generate solutions to improve the supply chain of a business.

Master of Business Administration

Graduates of the MBA program will be able to:

  • Communicate using the advanced oral and written communication skills necessary for success in the business environment.
  • Apply standards of ethical and legal behaviors in a professional environment.
  • Collect, interpret and analyze existing and/or original research, using quantitative and statistical tools, and use in the decision-making process.
  • Analyze the interrelatedness of market, economic, social and political trends, and their impact on a global environment.
  • Analyze the strategic planning process and develop and assess strategic plans.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to solve business problems.
  • Analyze financial reports, risk management strategies and their impact on the decision-making process.
  • Evaluate various leadership strategies and the implications of their use.
  • Discuss problems from diverse perspectives and analyze the impact of individual and cultural differences on the business environment.
  • Analyze the impact of information systems and technology on a business and demonstrate the ability to make effective information management decisions.
  • Analyze the strategic impact of human resource development and management on a business.
