A Health Information Technician is a skilled professional responsible for maintaining, organizing, and producing medical information. The curriculum prepares students for employment in any healthcare setting. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to sit for the RHIT National Certification Exam.
These technical standards reflect performance abilities and characteristics that are necessary to successfully complete the requirements of the program at Baker College. Health Information Technology professionals work in a multitude of settings throughout the healthcare industry including hospitals, physician offices and clinics, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, governmental agencies and home care providers.
With an associate degree, graduates can be employed as a health data analyst, insurance claims analyst, insurance claims analyst, records technician specialist, clinical coding specialist, physician practice manager, patient information coordinator. New health information technology graduates with an associate degree can earn $28,900 to $38,640 annually.
