Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a pillar of Baker College’s strategic plan, and we work each day to keep DEI principles and initiatives at the forefront of the Baker College experience, for students, faculty, staff and throughout the communities we call home.
To that end, we are thrilled to be recognized recently by the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of its, “Faurecia North America Diversity & Inclusion Pacesetter Award,” part of the organization’s 2021 Silver & Gold Awards. The Silver & Gold Awards recognize more than 100 nominees and volunteers who give back to their communities in various ways.
According to the Chamber, the Diversity & Inclusion Pacesetter Award is presented to a local company that promotes and facilitates a culture of diversity and inclusion in the categories of work environment, career development, training, networking and mentoring.
“I don’t think there is a category in which I would be prouder of being recognized,” said Dr. Pete Karsten, president of Baker College Auburn Hills, who accepted the award on Baker’s behalf at the Dec. 6, 2021 event.
And speaking of Dr. Karsten, we’re BakerProud to announce that he also was honored for his individual leadership contributions at the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce Silver & Gold Awards, earning special recognition as, “Board Member of the Year.”
Congratulations to Dr. Karsten, and to all of those who have committed to making Baker College a more diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for all.
