Sara Wilk, professor for the Baker College School of Nursing in Cadillac, was selected to present for the Trends in Occupational Studies conference held October 26, 2018 in Troy, Michigan.
This conference is designed to provide educational strategies for secondary educators in occupational studies. Dr. Wilk’s presentation titled “Using Telecommunication to Improve Communication Skills in Nursing Education” provided participants the opportunity to learn how to use forms of telecommunication such as FaceTime, Skype, and other forms of videos chat to improve nursing students’ communication with other healthcare providers.
“The ability to communicate with other professional healthcare providers is essential for safe patient care,” said Lori Dewey, Baker College Director of Nursing. “Dr. Wilk’s innovative approach of using telecommunication provides educators with a method to prepare students to converse with a variety of healthcare professionals. “
