Find a new path in your career with a secondary English endorsement.

Having an elementary teaching certificate can create a lot of opportunities in your career, but what if you want to do more? If you’re interested in teaching English and language arts classes, we can help.

Our secondary English level change program prepares you to earn the endorsement needed to be able to teach language arts and other related subjects in grades 6-12. Classes in this program are led by experienced teachers who fully understand what skills and methods you’ll need on the job. Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on fieldwork, you’ll be able to gain practical experience by applying what you’ve learned in real-world situations.

Over the course of the program, you’ll complete our secondary English major, as well as a portion of the professional education core that specifically deals with working with secondary students.

After completing the program, you’ll be able to take the test required to apply for the appropriate endorsement. Once you’re able to teach English in grades 6-12 in addition to all the subjects you’re able to teach with your elementary teaching certificate, you’ll have a greater range of career opportunities to choose from.

The curriculum at Baker absolutely helped me. I had great instructors, instructors who were educators. Just for teachers to connect with students, it was important to me for those instructors to connect with me.
